Solitaire is said to have been invented by a prisoner in solitary confinement in the Bastille. It was very popular in the 19th century, and a ceramic Solitaire game is on display in the parlor at Fountain Elms, the historical house affiliated with the Munson Williams Proctor Art Institute in Utica, NY.
The object of Solitaire is to end up with one marble in the center hole. Marbles are removed when another marble jumps over it into a vacant hole. For complete rules, see our Games Rules page.
This wooden Solitaire game is handcrafted in pine, and comes complete with an 8'' board and 32 marbles. Clear marbles are shown, but you may also choose from red, dark blue, lemon yellow, light blue, green or mixed colors. Click ''Additional Images'' to view all available colors. If a specific mix is desired, please e-mail request. $20
