 Handicrafts by Beth and Don is a his-and-hers operation located in Utica, NY, in the heart of New York State.
Don Stookey does chair caning , as well as rush, ash-splint and Shaker tape,
We work out of our home, and are happy to arrange a convenient time for you to come and view our items in person.
Also, often customers arrange to meet us at a craft show convenient to them to deliver or pick up chairs. (See Show Schedule page.) Some caned items (detachable chair seats, for example) can be mailed.
Directions:
From Thruway Exit 31 (Utica) or from North or East: follow signs for Rtes. 12 South and 5 West. Take exit marked Burrstone Rd/Faxton Hospital. Bear right (following the sign for Mohawk Valley Community College--MVCC). Continue straight ahead to 3rd light. Turn right onto Holland Ave., then first left onto Greenwood Ct. We're a yellow house on the right in the second block. Look for the stone lions out front!
From South or West: From junction of Rtes. 5, 12 and 12B, take 5 East/12 North 3 miles to Burrstone Rd. East/Faxton Hospital exit. At 3rd light turn right onto Holland Ave., then first left onto Greenwood Ct. We're a yellow house on the right in the second block. Look for the stone lions!
If you check our Show Schedule page you'll note that some of the shows are currently marked ''tentative''. These are shows we've done in the past, and expect to participate in again this year, but we haven't yet received applications and can't absolutely verify the dates yet.
